SVM Administration
Course Goal:
This course develops the skills needed for administration and management of either NUMA-Q or Symmetry systems running SVM.Audience:
This course is for experienced DYNIX/ptx administrators who will be responsible for the administration and management of either NUMA-Q or Symmetry systems running SVM.Prerequisites:
Before attending this course, the students need to be able to administer DYNIX/ptx systems as taught in the DYNIX/ptx System Administration I course.Course Objectives:
Describe the advantages of SVM
Identify conceptual building blocks of SVM
Define concatenation, striping, and mirroring
Describe the concepts of resilvering, hot sparing, and writecopy
Identify steps necessary to plan an SVM layout
Describe SVM disks and diskgroup operations
Discuss naming conventions
Describe volume usage types and the plex life cycle
Create and manage SVM objects
Describe methods of manipulating SVM objects
Back up data using SVM utilities
Identify SVM performance tuning tools
Prepare for and recover from errors
Course Length: 4.5 days
